The Art of Getting Lucky

By: Two Mann Studios - Erika and Lanny Mann

Lanny and Erika Mann will show you how to maximize your performance as a photographer, by consciously pursuing and capitalizing on luck. Learn how to push yourself—and your art—beyond your comfort zone, into the places where the true magic happens. This presentation will transform the psychological landscape that shapes the way you see, think, and shoot—forever.

About Erika and Lanny

Hi guys! We are Erika and Lanny. We’re so happy that you found us! Our adventures in wedding photography began on a mountain summit during our very first date. That’s when we discovered our mutual passion for adventure and each other. That’s where our fascination with light and love was born. And that’s when we started dreaming up new and exciting ways to see the world through our cameras. That fascination led us through some of the most spectacular places on earth, where we learned and honed our skills documenting light and adventure. Our goal is bold and simple; we want to tell your wedding story through compelling images that transcend wedding photography. We believe that wedding photography doesn’t have to be safe and boring. We don’t want to just give you photos, we want to give you works of art that will blow your mind, that communicate the essence of who you are, that tell stories beyond what you see, and that move complete strangers to stop and stare.

Profitable Pricing: Defining Success On Your Own Terms

By: Dana Pugh - Dana Pugh Photography

A no nonsense look at how to create a profitable portrait business.

Dana will discuss:

  • what a sustainable work load looks like for both portrait photographers and wedding photographers
  • what is realistic in terms of expenses?
  • side hustle or full time?
  • Why our pricing should be the same regardless of how much time we are investing into our businesses.
  • different structures that can help you increase your profits and make you stand out from your competition.

Dana believes in creating sustainable portrait businesses mean finding that perfect balance of doing what we love and spending time with the people we love. The hustle is real, but it doesn't have to mean that you must give up your life for your passion. Your life should BE YOUR PASSION. This isn't about in person sales or sales tactics that you don't feel comfortable with...this is about discovering how you want to run your business so that it works for you and your own goals.

About Dana

Dana Pugh is an award winning family and children's photographer from Okotoks, Alberta. In 2010, she was named the first ever, international Child Photographer of the Year by the National Association of Professional Children's Photographers. For that award, one of her images was displayed on a billboard in New York's Time Square. Since then, she has become known for her quest to capture natural expressions from all of the subjects who step in front of her camera. She is drawn to the imperfect and the chaos of family life as she believes that is where the true beauty of life resides. Amongst family photographers, she is known for her personal work of her own children whom she has been documenting for the last 14 years. Her family's innate sense of curiosity about the world has brought her to explore nighttime, underwater and environmental portraiture. In the 14 years that she has been documenting her children, they have travelled across North America, as well as to destinations such as Iceland, Belize, and Honduras. Her work is part documentary, part portraiture, and full of personality. Recently, she has become known for speaking out about female photographer's sense of self worth and teaches business courses designed to help family photographers earn a decent income for the time they spend away from their own families. Her clients include children's clothing lines, professional athletes and local celebrities, but, most importantly, amazingly awesome families from across north America.

Newborn Photography Transitions & Flow Posing

By: Shiri Shapiro - Focus Studios and Design

Maximizing the newborn session with the minimal amount of time

About Shiri

I started as a photographer 12 years ago as a fashion and headshot photographer. Shortly after I expanded my business to also include weddings and events. It was during this period, in 2009, that I launched Focus Studios Photography. While I enjoyed photographing such a momentous occasion, my past clients soon came calling to ask me to photograph their expanding families. I quickly realized I had found my passion. I worked hard to hone my skills, expanding on my knowledge from Humber College with private workshops and practice. I love being a part of people’s lives and sharing in their stories and most prized moments. I love watching them grow and helping them document their family and memories, as I do for my own. It’s said that you should love what you do and do what you love, and I am definitely living this to its fullest potential.
